More than 9,000 student-athletes and officials from over 170 countries gathered in Taipei for the Summer Universiade 2017 and wTVision developed a solution to generate virtual graphics for the athletics and swimming contests. For the swimming contests (freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke on different distances and for both genders), wTVision used its own render engine and a camera with an image sensor to generate graphics showing the starting and finishing lists, with country flags, as well as the world and universiade records. The same solution was implemented during the Triple Jump Women Final and the Long Jump Men Final, while for the 100 metres and 110 metres hurdles contests, wTVision generated the virtual graphics through an AKI system. The Summer Universiade 2017 started on August 18 and ended 12 days later, on August 30. Japan finished first on the medal table, with 101 medals (37 gold ones), followed by South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Russia and the USA.
